St. Lawrence Catholic School in Indianapolis is seeking a part-time School Nutrition Director. This is an onsite role aligned with the school calendar, with some flexibility and limited summer responsibilities.
The School Nutrition Director oversees all aspects of the school’s food service program, ensuring students receive nutritious, high-quality meals in a safe and welcoming environment. The Director ensures compliance with USDA Child Nutrition Program requirements and provides leadership in program management, financial oversight, and staff development in support of the school’s mission.
This position supervises the School Nutrition Manager and kitchen staff.
Responsibilities

The School Nutrition Director will ensure compliance with all USDA Child Nutrition Program regulations and applicable local, state, and federal requirements

The School Nutrition Director will oversee budgeting, financial management, and recordkeeping for the nutrition program

The School Nutrition Director will develop and oversee menus that meet USDA nutrition guidelines while considering cost, student preferences, and participation

The School Nutrition Director will supervise and support the School Nutrition Manager and kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and evaluation

The School Nutrition Director will oversee food safety practices, including implementation of HACCP standards

The School Nutrition Director will manage procurement, inventory, and vendor relationships in accordance with USDA guidelines

The School Nutrition Director will collaborate with school leadership, staff, and families to support students’ nutritional needs

Education, Training, and Experience

High school diploma required; additional education or training in nutrition, food service management, or related field preferred

Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in school food service, cafeteria management, or related field

Indiana School Nutrition Certification preferred

Food Handler or Food Protection Manager Certification (or willingness to obtain)

Must successfully complete Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training and background screening
