Position Summary

The Parish Business Manager is a senior staff leader supporting the Pastor in the stewardship of St. Patrick Catholic Church, St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, and St. Patrick School of the Terre Haute Deanery. In collaboration with the Pastor, the Business Manager oversees the administrative, financial, physical, and human resources of the Parish and School, ensuring efficient daily operations and responsible management aligned with Archdiocesan policies and the mission of the Church.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Advise the Pastor on business, financial, and administrative matters
  • Manage Parish and School financial operations, banking, budgeting, and internal controls
  • Prepare and coordinate financial reports in collaboration with the Archdiocese
  • Oversee payroll processing, benefits administration, and HR compliance
  • Supervise Parish staff and manage onboarding, records, and personnel documentation
  • Serve as liaison to the Archdiocesan HR Department
  • Administer contracts with vendors and outside contractors
  • Apply for grants to support Parish and ministry operations
  • Collaborate with Parish and School leadership committees on financial and operational planning
  • Maintain Parish records and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Perform other duties as needed to support Parish and School operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, accounting, or finance
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience; supervisory experience required
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and RAAP
  • Strong organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
  • Commitment to supporting the mission of the Catholic Church
  • Must comply with Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
  • Successful completion of SafeParish training and background screening required
  • Valid driver’s license required

Working Conditions

  • Office environment with frequent computer and administrative equipment use
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and manage large volumes of documentation
  • Regular communication with staff, vendors, and Archdiocesan offices
