About the Position

The Archdiocese of Indianapolis is seeking a Coordinator of Hispanic Ministry, a mission‑driven leader dedicated to fostering the full participation of the Hispanic/Latino community in the life of the Catholic Church. This role provides leadership for archdiocesan Hispanic Ministry efforts by equipping parish and lay leaders, managing resources, and collaborating broadly to support pastoral, formational, social, and evangelization needs. The coordinator also plays a key role in developing and implementing the Hispanic Pastoral Plan, strengthening leadership formation, supporting apostolic movements, and representing the Archdiocese at the local, state, regional, and national levels.

Primary Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategic Direction

  • Lead archdiocesan Hispanic Ministry efforts, including the development and evaluation of the Hispanic Pastoral Plan.
  • Oversee the Intern for Hispanic Ministry and strengthen the Spanish‑language IPI leadership program.

Ministry Development & Collaboration

  • Foster collaboration among parishes and ministries serving Hispanic youth, young adults, and families.
  • Support archdiocesan offices in addressing pastoral, educational, and social needs within the Hispanic community.
  • Expand opportunities for leadership formation, catechesis, and evangelization.

Committees, Clergy Support & Apostolic Movements

  • Lead the Hispanic Ministry Advisory Committee and contribute to the Intercultural Ministry Commission.
  • Support clergy serving in Hispanic Ministry through formation and resource development.
  • Provide guidance to Hispanic apostolic movements such as Renovación Carismática, Apostoles de la Palabra, Movimiento de Consagrados, and Cursillo.

Communication & Representation

  • Ensure strong communication with Spanish‑speaking Catholics through digital media, print, and other channels.
  • Represent the Archdiocese within national and regional Hispanic Ministry networks and participate in relevant conferences.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Assist with budgeting, the United Catholic Appeal, and related funding efforts.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Practicing Catholic with strong understanding of Church teachings and structures.
  • Knowledge of Hispanic culture, traditions, community needs, and pastoral realities.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Strong organizational, planning, and project‑management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a professional and pastoral manner.
  • Commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church and the Archdiocese.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in theology, pastoral studies, intercultural ministry, or a related field (strongly preferred).
  • Experience in Hispanic Ministry (paid or volunteer) preferred.
  • Must comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct.
  • Completion of Archdiocesan Child Safety Training required.
  • Background check required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
