Position Summary

The Afterschool Program Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the Saint Simon the Apostle School Afterschool Program, serving students in Preschool through Grade 8. This position ensures a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for all children, while supervising staff, coordinating programming, and maintaining positive communication with families.

Key Responsibilities

Student Supervision & Program Environment

  • Oversee the safety, well-being, and behavior of all students enrolled in the program.
  • Implement age-appropriate activities, routines, and procedures that support social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Ensure proper supervision ratios and create a welcoming, structured atmosphere for all grade levels.

Staff Leadership & Scheduling

  • Supervise afterschool program staff, supporting them in implementing program expectations and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Create and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage each day.
  • Assist in training new staff and providing ongoing guidance and feedback.

Parent Communication & Customer Service

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents regarding daily operations, student concerns, schedules, and general program information.
  • Communicate promptly and professionally about behavior incidents, schedule changes, or billing questions.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with families to support student success.

Administrative Oversight

  • Maintain accurate attendance records, enrollment information, and student files.
  • Oversee billing processes, including tracking hours, preparing invoices, and following established financial procedures.
  • Establish and refine procedures, policies, and workflow to support smooth program operations.

Programming & Procedure Development

  • Plan and coordinate a variety of activities including homework help, enrichment projects, recreation, and faith-aligned programming.
  • Develop and update program procedures for safety, communication, and daily routines.
  • Collaborate with school administration to ensure alignment with school policies and mission.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
  • Commitment to creating a safe, nurturing Catholic environment for students.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Hours & Compensation

  • This is a part-time position aligned with the school calendar; hours may vary based on program needs.
  • Compensation commensurate with experience.
