Director of Maintenance

Location: St. Mark Catholic Church and School, Indianapolis

St. Mark Catholic Church and School is seeking a person responsible for managing and maintaining all parish and school buildings and grounds in excellent condition. Maintaining many systems on campus is a primary role of this position. This person will work closely with and at the direction of the Pastor, Director of Operations, and Principal.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  1. Good organization and planning skills.
  2. Basic mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing skills to complete routine tasks.
  3. Ability to organize and manage workload to meet deadlines.
  4. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
  5. Ability to lift 50 pounds and to have complete mobility in the buildings and grounds.

Responsibilities

  1. Complete repairs and maintenance tasks on buildings, grounds, equipment, electrical systems, plumbing, doors, furniture, indoor and outdoor lighting, and fixtures when reasonable and possible.
  2. Complete scheduled and preventative maintenance tasks, including changing filters and light bulbs, cleaning of plumbing traps, and checking physical operation of equipment, building, doors, and windows. Complete some basic painting. 
  3. Inspect building and grounds for items needing repair, replacement, and upkeep. Maintain an active and ongoing list of building and grounds maintenance projects.
  4. Inspect building and grounds to ensure compliance with health, fire, and safety regulations.  Ensure other inspections completed for backflows, fire system, elevator, fire extinguishers, and electrical.
  5. Supervise part-time or seasonal help, and volunteers to direct, coach, and monitor work.
  6. Provide oversight and supervision of outside contractors and ensure proper completion of contracted projects.  Approve final invoices for payment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00—$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

  • 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Nights and weekends only when emergency situations arise.
