Extended Care Worker
			Location: St.  Susanna Catholic School, Plainfield

            Aftercare  personnel are responsible for supervising and ensuring the safety, well-being,  and engagement of students in our Extended Day Ministry program after school.  They oversee students during various activities, provide support with homework,  and facilitate recreational and enrichment programs. In addition, they maintain  a positive and nurturing environment, fostering both academic growth and  personal development while communicating with parents and guardians as needed.
            ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
            
              - Provides  supervision for  children, maintaining a safe and  healthy environment, and can offer First Aid when needed. 
 
              - Organize  and participate in games, reading to the children, and assisting with homework,  as needed. 
 
              - Interact  positively with children and act as an appropriate adult role model.
 
              - Maintains  discipline.
 
              - Assists in  distributing snacks and cleaning as needed. 
 
              - Maintains  a working environment that is in accord with program goals and philosophy.
 
              - Attends  training and staff meetings as required, including for the distribution of  food, as taught with Indy Parks. 
 
              - Keeps all  required records, such as attendance and time sheets.
 
              - Other  duties as necessary to ensure efficient functioning of the School/ Parish/  Agency

              - Ability to maintain accurate and detailed  records.
 
              - Ability to give and follow written and oral  instructions. 
 
              - Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in  analyzing and resolving problems.
 
              - Ability to maintain cooperative working  relationships. 
 
              - Ability to demonstrate respect for and  sensitivity to a diverse population of students, co-workers, parents and  others.
 
              - Ability to exercise discretion and to maintain  confidentiality.
 
              - Ability to communicate effectively with  children, other staff, parents, and the general publicPatience and genuine  interest in furthering the wellbeing, education, and development of children 
 
            
            EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
            
              - Must be able to  understand and to comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
 
              - Must be able to successfully  complete the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training
 
              - Background  screening required
 
              - One year of  experience related to the care of a child preferred  
 
            
            WORKING ENVIRONMENT
            
              - Lifting children  or heavy items (up to 50 pounds) unassisted.
 
              - Bending,  standing, climbing, and walking.
 
              - Ability to bend,  kneel, stoop, stand, and sit for long periods of time.
 
              - Ability to work  safely in environments with biological conditions that may be unhealthful or  hazardous, such as bodily fluids and waste, germs, and childhood diseases.
 
              - Exposure to  moderate to loud noises.
 
              - Exposure to  varying weather conditions
