Saint Lawrence Catholic Church, located on the northeast side of Indianapolis, is seeking a full-time Bilingual Coordinator of Evangelization & Catechesis to provide ministerial leadership, collaboratively, to leaders of various parish ministries in pursuing three goals: Bringing about in all Catholics such an enthusiasm for their faith that, in living their faith in Jesus, they freely share it with others; inviting all people in the Saint Lawrence parish territory to hear the message of salvation in Jesus Christ so they may come to join in the fullness of the Catholic faith; facilitating a relationship with Jesus Christ through every interaction spent with staff, volunteers, and parishioners.

Essential Functions
In close collaboration with other parish staff and volunteers, the Bilingual Coordinator of Evangelization & Catechesis will:

  • Provide successful programming in a multicultural parish, demonstrating understanding of and responsiveness to a diversity of needs.
  • Implement small discipleship groups in the parish, providing ministerial leadership for the groups in areas of evangelization. Visit the groups on a regular basis, providing training, mentorship, and formation.
  • Stay current on various resources regarding evangelization and the Church, supporting teachings and practices of the Catholic faith within the parish.
  • Responsible for all aspects of catechesis within the parish for children and adults, including Sacramental Preparation and Faith Formation, for individuals, families, and small discipleship groups.

Skills, Knowledge, and/or Abilities

  • Must be a professed and practicing Catholic with a well-cultivated relationship with Jesus Christ and willingness to foster the Church’s mission through a thorough understanding of the teachings of the Catholic Church and the directives of the Magisterium.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and parishioners, including the ability to establish and develop positive connections with people of diverse backgrounds and languages, showing respect for people and their culture.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong skills in resource development. Ability to model lifelong learning by a commitment to acquiring new skills.

Education, Training, and/or Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in theology or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in evangelization, parish ministry and/or teaching is required.
  • Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish required and openness to learning Haitian Creole.
