St. Joseph Catholic School (SJCS), located in Corydon Indiana, (Harrison County) is seeking a principal for the 2024-2025 school year. St. Joseph is a state-recognized Pre-school – 8th grade Catholic school serving around 160 students.

Since 1953, Saint Joseph Catholic School has offered a Christ Centered education to youth in Harrison County. SJCS School Mission: St. Joseph Catholic School, inspired by Christ, prepares children for their future by promoting a love of the Eucharist, academic growth, nurturing their faith and service to others.

As the administrative head, the Principal working closely and in unity with the Pastor will lead the effective operation of the school in pursuit of its mission and vision following the policies and guidelines established by the Office of Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.

The principal will lead the school in pursuit of academic excellence and Faith development and spiritual growth as evidenced by a strong Catholic identity in the school and community.

These duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Acting as the primary representative to stakeholders including parents, the Catholic Community of St. Mary and St. Joseph and the community at large. The ideal candidate will have experience working with and communicating with outside entities.
  • Marketing Saint Joseph Catholic School to the parish and the community.
  • Enrolling new families and acquainting them to SJCS and Parish community
  • Reinforcing and building upon our strong academic program and Catholic identity through faith-based leadership, professional development, and a commitment to excellence.
  • Overseeing the budget and operations of the school in conjunction with the pastor, business office and Finance Committee. Manage tuition and the state voucher program.
  • Adhere to the mission of Saint Joseph Catholic School:
    • We will provide a Christ-centered, quality education that prepares and inspires its students to Know Love and Live the Eucharist as they progress in their education and personal faith development.  Based on Catholic teachings, our students and staff exemplify the value of faith, service, love, and respect of one another in all situations and with all of God’s people.

To be considered for this position, candidate should have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Be a practicing Catholic in good standing, as verified by the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, and on fire with the Love for the Eucharist and the Church.
  • Administrator license (required or in process of receiving)
  • Possess exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Exhibit a passion for student Spiritual development and academic excellence.
  • Be skilled at hiring, training, and retaining teachers and staff, with a passion for building and developing a culture of spirituality, shared goals, enthusiasm, and teamwork.
  • A positive, enthusiastic, motivational, and inspiring leader to teachers and students that is highly visible within all Parish and community activities while realizing the opportunity for evangelization within the school and community at large.
  • Willingness and desire to collaborate with and unify support volunteers including but not limited to PTO, School Commission, and Fund-raising groups.
