St. Joan of Arc Church is seeking a Full time, Director of Music Ministries. This is an onsite, in-person role.

The Director of Music Ministries is The Director of Music Ministries is a professional who holds specialized credentials in music and who has a thorough understanding of Catholic Liturgy. St. Joan of Arc has traditionally been a Parish where music liturgy has been vibrant, expressive, uplifting, and fruitful when expressed in the cultural richness of the Parish. The Director of Music Ministries is responsible for the preparation, coordination/ scheduling, recruitment/ development, and administrative leadership of music within the liturgical celebrations of the parish. They direct the parish music program; selects & plans music for all masses under supervision of the Pastor and in consultation, when appropriate, with other members of the parish staff and lay leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to personally conduct and/or accompany the music at the churches Masses, and for other special services as noted. Responsible for the scheduling of accompanists in their own absence.
  • Prepares and manages the budget for the parish music program in collaboration with the Pastor and Finance Committee.
  • Schedules and supervises all choir, music groups, and other music ministers, and provides general musical and liturgical formation.
  • Manages rehearsal schedule for all musicians.
  • Selects, prepares, and maintains songbooks and musical library.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Is living publicly in harmony with the Church’s moral teaching.
  • Must have ability to develop and administer programs to meet assessed needs.
  • Requires strong pastoral and interpersonal skills; and the ability to work collaboratively with all Pastors, staff, and parishioners. Must be able to work both independently, and as a team.
  • Proficiency in voice, piano, organ, and choral performance; as well as basic knowledge of other instruments not listed.
  • A willingness to foster the Church and parish mission.

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in music, including thorough knowledge and training in music theory and composition.
  • Have at least three years’ experience as a pastoral musician.
  • Must be able to understand and to comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
  • Must be able to successfully complete the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training
  • Background screening required.
