World Youth Day 2005

Who's making these posts?

A quick introduction. My name is Brandon Evans, a reporter for The Criterion since 2001, and since the first of this year, also the one who updates The Criterion Online Edition each day.

It also turns out that I'm the lucky reporter that has been sent to cover the archdiocesan pilgrimage to World Youth Day 2005 in Cologne, Germany, which includes a stop in Rome and Assisi, Italy.

My wife, Laura, is also traveling with me and will probably prove to be a big help as I report on the events of the coming two weeks through news stories, pictures, videos and weblog posts on this page.

After trying to keep all the latest World Youth Day information posted on this page for the past several weeks (click here, by the way, if you want to see any of those previous postings), I'll now be doing my best to update this page everyday that the pilgrimage is underway. Somedays I may even have time to do more than one update.

The hope and the goal is that everyone who is interested in this pilgrimage -- especially the parents, family and friends of those participating -- can "join" us each day, albeit digitally. Each posting will typically contain what happened that day, along with several icon-sized pictures that you can click on for a closer look. With a little help from God's Providence, I'll also be able to send back some digital videos for those of you with a high-speed Internet connection.

Maybe I'll even find a few other little goodies to post. Whatever I can get my hands on I'll post.

So enjoy the weblog, and check back each day!
