Compassionate God, You gave Your divine light to St Margaret of Castello who was blind from birth, that with the eye of her heart she might contemplate You alone. Be the light of our eyes that we may turn from what is evil and reach the home of never-ending light. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Ghost, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. ( General Calendar of the Order of Preachers)

Three-Pronged Approach

Awareness - The Office of Worship and Evangelization (OWE) strives to increase awareness of disabilities by assisting parishes with information and strategies for effective communication about persons with disabilities.

Inclusion - Our Archdiocesan Special Religious Education effort assists parishes in establishing Inclusion Teams who work via evangelization and catechesis to include persons with disabilities in parish life. Inclusion Teams share methods, techniques and strategies to help all persons with disabilities’ gifts and talents be utilized and included in parish activities—including typical catechetical sessions when appropriate.

Specialized Adaptations - As a ministry we offer resources and information about adaptive materials for catechists that are working with children or adults with disabilities.  This includes specific materials to aid in sacrament preparation.  Sensory Friendly Mass offers special adaptations so that those with sensory sensitivities can celebrate Mass.  There are several SPREAD (Special Religious Education and Discipleship) groups in the Archdiocese that use adaptive programs and activities to enrich their faith formation and provide opportunities for discipleship in their parish.  Please reach out to this ministry if you need any special adaptations at your parish or if you are interested in being a parish advocate or start a SPREAD group for those with special needs in your parish.
