Substance Addiction Ministry

Holy Cross

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

SAM LogoSeptember 20, 2017: Substance Addiction Ministry (SAM) Recovery Mass

Addiction touches many people’s lives, but it is something that few of us really discuss. Addiction should not be battled alone? It impacts the individual, family, and community-we all know someone who is affected by an addiction of some sort. Please join the Substance Addiction Ministry of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis on September 20th at 7:00 pm for a Recovery Mass celebrated by Fr. Joseph Newton at SS. Peter and Paul Cathedral (1347 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis, 46202) where we will lift up in prayer those who are afflicted and affected by addictions of any kind. Please contact Kay Summers, ksummers@archindy.org , with any questions.

New parish SAM teams are forming all of the time. If you would like to bring SAM to your parish, please contact, Office of Pro-Life and Family Life at (317) 236-1527 - Scott Seibert, Interim Director, sseibert@archindy.org to discuss the requirements and opportunities.

It is essential 1) to have the support of one’s pastor or PLC, and 2) to participate in a team training session before engaging in Substance Addiction Ministry.
