Event & Volunteer Coordinator, Office of Young Adult & College Campus Ministry (YACCM)

The Event & Volunteer Coordinator (E&VC) commits to forming lifelong missionary disciples of Jesus Christ within the Archdiocese of Indianapolis by establishing intentional relationships with young adults (18-39) and equipping them for mission. This position has ownership for the vision and execution of the major community-building events for Indy Catholic, including Theology on Tap, Intramural sports, and First Friday Adoration. In addition, the E&VC will develop leaders through continuing to build the volunteer management system. This position is highly collaborative and requires excellent teamwork skills.
Responsibilities:
- Live a life of prayer, especially through scheduled daily prayer, daily mass, and frequenting confession.
- Lead all community-building events for Indy Catholic programming, creating essential space to evangelize young adults in the Indy metro area:
- Serve as the event lead for Theology on Tap, Intramural sports, and First Friday Adoration. This includes small and large-scale events and engages over 1000+ young adults per year.
- Oversee and manage vendors, building relationships with local parishes, venues, and volunteers
- Manage logistical needs of events (registration/ticketing, promotion, set-up, timeline, tear-down)
- Write after-action reports, evaluating success of programming objectives and outcomes
- Help build repeatable processes, templates, and best practices for Indy Catholic to create sustainability.
- In collaboration with the YACCM team, contribute to the development of strategic plans, goals, and objectives for Indy Catholic, ensuring alignment with the vision of YACCM
- Develop young adult leaders through management of a volunteer system:
- Share the mission and vision of Indy Catholic with volunteers, creating buy-in
- Recruit, form, and manage a volunteer team for seasonal events. This includes Theology on Tap, Intramural bowling, Intramural volleyball, and First Friday adoration.
- Communicate regularly with the team to provide logistics, ongoing feedback, and direction for volunteer roles.
- Drive communication and marketing for Indy Catholic to creatively share the Gospel in our parishes and the digital space:
- Lead website development for indycatholic.org, including roadmap, design, and maintenance
- Promote role-related events via email and social media through Indy Catholic accounts.
- Represent the Archdiocese at national, regional, and local gatherings for young adult ministry.
- Communicate with other diocesan offices to fulfill YACCM’s mission and priorities.
- Fulfill the duties of the office, including attendance at all team meetings, weekly one-on-one’s with the Director, and Department-wide meetings and events.
- Other duties as necessary to ensure efficient functioning of YACCM.
Skills, knowledge, and/or abilities:
- Excellent organization and planning skills
- Confidence in decision-making, able to take responsibility for an area
- Comfort in presenting to a large-group and confidence in public speaking
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate with a high level of professionalism
- Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Is self motivated and diligent, consistently looks for the next-step or opportunity without prompting
- Shares credit, emphasizes the team over self, and defines success collectively rather than individually
- Is interpersonally appropriate and aware, has good judgement and intuition and understands the impact of their words and actions
- Has a creative and relevant understanding of communicating the Gospel to the young Church
- Willingness to foster the church’s mission
Education, training, and/or experience:
- Has previous professional pastoral ministry experience with young adults in a parish or campus setting
- Has training from a pastoral or evangelical organization in the Church and/or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Project management experience
- Volunteer management experience preferred
- Is a practicing and faithful Catholic in good standing, with a theological and ministerial perspective consistent with current Church documents
- Must be able to understand and to comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
- Must be able to successfully complete the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training
- Background screening required
- Valid driver’s license required
Working Environment
- This is an onsite role at the Catholic Center working Monday – Thursday
- Frequent evening and weekend work based on business need
- Provides own transportation and is reimbursed for travel according to the archdiocesan norms
- Must be able to maneuver equipment and ministry supplies through ministry settings, ensuring proper set-up for events
