Marriage Preparation: Sponsor Couples

PREPARE trainings (all sessions run from 6:30 – 9:00 PM)
- Monday, February 25, 2008 - Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral, Indianapolis
- Thursday, March 6, 2008 - St. Malachy, Brownsburg (Holy Family Room)
Sponsor couples who administer PREPARE will receive a training packet, which includes a first set of inventory materials (no cost).
FOCCUS trainings (all sessions run from 6:30 – 9:00 PM)
- Monday, March 3, 2008 - Our Lady of Perpetual Help, New Albany (St. Joseph Room)
- Tuesday, March 11, 2008 - Christ the King, Indianapolis (CTK School, Resource Room)
- Monday, April 7, 2008 - St. John the Baptist, Starlight
Sponsor couples who administer FOCCUS will receive a training packet and a current (2000 Version) Facilitators’ binder ($45 each, billable to the couples’ parish, unless otherwise specified).
Additional considerations to keep in mind ...
Space is often limited, and pre-registration is required in order to confirm that space is available in the host-parish’s facility. However, it is almost always possible to accommodate more couples from other parishes.
If a parish is sending a group of sponsor couples to be trained, it is preferred that the pastor or marriage ministry coordinator register their parish’s group, after confirming the couples’ willingness and intention to attend the training. This level of coordination is helpful in reducing redundancy, and it confirms that the couples have been properly screened and specifically invited by the appropriate leadership to serve as sponsor couples. Still, individual couples can RSVP directly to Dan at the Office of Family Ministries, especially if they are attending a session different from their parish’s group.
Parishes may prefer to have their group of sponsor couples attend the same training session together, so that they can meet each other. As long as they are attending a training session that deals with the right specific inventory, it does not matter which session they attend. The sessions are essentially interchangeable from one parish to another.
