The goal of evangelization today is, as always, the transmission of the Christian faith. This task primarily concerns communities of Jesus’disciples which are organized into particular Churches, diocesan andeparchial, whose worshippers gather regularly for liturgical celebrations, hear the Word of God, celebrate the sacraments — especially the Eucharist — and look to pass on the treasure of faith to the members of their families, communities and parishes. They accomplish this task by proclaiming and bearing witness to the Christian life through the catechumenate, catechesis and works of charity.

The Archdiocese of Indianapolis is calling for each parish in the archdiocese to have a parish evangelization team, regardless size of the parish or location. Its role is to assist the pastor in the New Evangelization by sharing the Gospel with each of the groups of the New Evangelization - those who do not know Jesus Christ, those whose faith has faded, and "ordinary" Catholics who continually need to deepen their relationship with God. The parish evangelization team can take various forms, as can the activities it facilitates.
