Foundation sponsors 5-mile run/walk to benefit children with special needs

Anna’s Celebration of Life foundation will sponsor a 5-mile run/walk at Broad Ripple Park, 1550 Broad Ripple Ave. in Indianapolis, to benefit children with special needs on Aug. 10.

The foundation was started to benefit children with special needs in memory of Anna Malloy, who died of a rare genetic disorder at the age of 12. Anna was a member of St. Jude Parish in Indianapolis, where her parents, Julie and Pete, still worship.

This year’s run/walk will also be held in memory of Cody Scott Richardson, a firefighter who lost his life in the line of duty. In his memory as well as Anna’s, a portion of the proceeds of the event will benefit a special needs child of a family in the firefighting community.

Pre-registration is available online at AnnasCelebrationOfLife.org. On-site registration begins at 7 a.m. on Aug. 10, and the 5-mile run/walk begins at 8 a.m. Tags will be used for timing the results.

The event also includes a kids’ fun run, bounce house, music, refreshments and more.

For more information, log on to AnnasCelebrationOfLife.org or e-mail AnnaCelebratesLife@gmail.com.
