General Announcements

Seminar to address post-abortion syndrome

“Pregnancy Loss and Unresolved Grief—A Time to Listen, A Time to Heal,” an April 24 seminar in downtown Indianapolis, will address post-traumatic stress disorder in women and men related to infant death due to abortion.

Theresa Burke, Ph.D., the founder of Rachel’s Vineyard Ministries and an internationally recognized expert on post-abortion trauma and healing, is the keynote speaker for the seminar, which is sponsored by the archdiocesan Office for Pro-Life Ministry.

The seminar begins at 8 a.m. and concludes at 4:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Indianapolis City Centre, 31 W. Ohio St.

It is intended for priests, pastoral care ministers, psychologists, counselors, therapists, social workers, nurses, faculty members, students, pro-life volunteers and the general public, including women and men who are grieving about the death of an unborn baby in abortion.

“Statistics show that 1.2 million abortions are performed in the U.S. annually,” explained Servants of the Gospel of Life Sister Diane Carollo, director of the archdiocesan Office for Pro-Life Ministry. “Fifty percent of U.S. women obtaining abortions are younger than 25. … Dr. Burke’s training seminar on ministering to those suffering from the aftermath of abortion is necessary for anyone who wants to help post-abortive women and men.”

The one-day seminar includes lunch and is $50 per person or $90 per person with continuing education credits. To register or for more information, contact the archdiocesan Office for Pro-Life Ministry at 317-236-1569 or 800-382-9836, ext. 1569, or parthur@archindy.org.
