(BEDFORD, August 6, 2014) – Catholic Charities in Bloomington is thrilled to announce that an anonymous Bedford family has committed a generous $50,000 match gift to Becky’s Place, supporting their work with homeless women and children in Lawrence and surrounding counties.

All donations made to Becky’s Place, through the end of 2014, will be matched at a 50% rate, up to $100,000 for a total match of $50,000.  This would mean a total of $150,000 if Becky’s Place were able to meet this challenge.  “We are using this wonderful opportunity to challenge the entire community to join Becky’s Place and help us meet the needs of women and children in the Bedford area,” said Corrina Hayes, Program Coordinator for Becky’s Place.

Becky’s Place provides shelter and creates hope for women and children who are experiencing homelessness and moving toward a life of self-sufficiency.  In addition to providing safe shelter, they offer meals, case management, support services, counseling, educational resources, life skills and a compassionate, dedicated staff.  Their goal is for each resident to obtain permanent housing as quickly as possible, working with a case manager to develop a life plan. Becky’s Place offers a safe, home-like environment. Having the most basic needs met through Becky’s Place allows residents the opportunity to focus on other aspects of their lives and to gain the skills necessary to work and live independently.

This matching gift will help Becky’s Place reach more women and children in need and provide them with the support and resources to achieve their mission.
